This home was landmarked by the City of Boulder in September of 2007 and is known as the Frakes House. The property is located on the southwest corner of Mapleton and 20th Street and was built in approximately 1898. The home sits on a full lot in the popular Whittier neighborhood near downtown Boulder and the Pearl Street Mall.
Hickman Construction is undertaking the renovation, restoration and additions to the historic house. An addition is being added to the back of the original house, including a basement, over the next few months. A new garage with a studio above is also being constructed off of the alley.
The house, when completed, will have about 2700 square feet and a finished basement of about 750 square feet. The studio above the two car garage will have about 360 square feet. Projected completion is slated for the end of 2008. Check back for regular updates.
